In recent times, and partly in response to COVID, we've heard universities talk about a renewed need for flexibility and versatility in their digital learning ecosystems. We've witnessed higher education institutions across the globe embark upon significant digital transformation initiatives to better support students navigating their unique journeys online and offline, on and off-campus, across multiple settings, from application to graduation. PebblePad CEO and Founder, Shane Sutherland, will be leading the 45-minute webinar. The webinar has been scheduled for 3 pm AEST to allow the Australasian community to explore real-world examples of how universities can successfully scaffold learning journeys at scale and make a meaningful and lasting difference to student success.

If PebblePad is the answer, what is the question?
This session is part of the PebblePad Research Community webinars. The session will help you to frame your PebblePad implementation as applied educational research that might be suitable for publication in a peer-reviewed journal. We will talk about developing a research question, defining a suitable methodology and building research instruments for data collection and analysis. Examples of publications will be unpacked in order to support you to conceptualise the structure of your paper and to ensure that you write for maximum impact.

Incorporating authentic examples of practice and facilitated discussion, our expert webinar draws on the experiences of nursing educators in our PebblePad community to show their solutions to common challenges encountered in supporting learners on their journey to becoming nurses.
Portfolios as a means of proving competence are not new to this discipline but this webinar includes a diverse mix of ideas from four institutions on how this journey can be captured and showcased.
- Electronic clinical placement workbooks for large cohorts, including mobile enabled hours tracking, comprehensive clinical sign off and LMS integration.
- Formative feedback and reflection via Video logs
- Bedside simulation techniques to scaffold learning.
- Microcredentials within portfolios
- Facilitating external assessment with student-selected assessors.
- A creative and responsive approach to COVID-19 when no clinical placements are available in aged care facilities.
The webinar will also facilitate discussion about some of the issues, challenges and benefits of engaging with eportfolios in Nursing.

Incorporating authentic examples of practice and facilitated discussion, the purpose of this webinar is to explore the use of portfolios and portfolio thinking in Teacher Education. Invited presenters from four universities will showcase examples that:
- Use portfolio tasks to capture learning experiences and showcase new understanding
- Scaffold learners to build professional skills such as teacher voice, writing, reflection, planning etc.
- Map professional standards across the course and make this process explicit for students through intentional activity.
- Ensure that placement is optimised through before-during-after record keeping and reflection
- Reflect on simulated teaching experiences to enhance teaching and classroom management skills.
The webinar will also facilitate discussion about some of the issues, challenges and benefits of engaging with portfolio thinking in teacher education.

Incorporating authentic examples of practice and facilitated discussion, our expert webinar draws on the experiences of midwife educators in our PebblePad community to show their solutions to common challenges encountered in supporting learners on their journey to becoming midwives.
In this webinar, invited presenters from three universities will demonstrate how an eportfolio approach is being used to facilitate the following processes in the Midwifery program:
- The recording of Experiences and Continuity of Care episodes tracked against individuals
- Clinical Placement, including hours tracking (using a shareable AMSAT template), and Competency Assessment Tool.
- A whole-of-course approach with reporting analytics and research studies.
Our presenters will also facilitate discussion about some of the issues, challenges and benefits of engaging with eportfolios in Midwifery.

Series – a subtle nod towards one of PebblePad’s reflective templates. The series will see us hosting four webinars to support the use of the workbooks we presented and shared during the PebbleVision series, and which we have since made available to many in the PebblePad community. The webinars will showcase a raft of tips and tricks aimed at those new to using PebblePad or those wanting a refresher before the start of the academic year.
