University of Wolverhampton University of Wolverhampton

Pebble Learning was created by two eLearning experts from the University of Wolverhampton. All of the employees of Pebble are graduates of the University - and a very talented bunch they are including designers, programmers and qualified teachers.

The commercialisation of PebblePad is being facilitated by a joint venture enterprise between Pebble and the University but more importantly the ongoing development of the ePortfolio system is rooted in research of the real-life application of ePortfolios.

The diversity of the University provision, coupled to that of its vast network of partners makes for an unparalleled development environment. Core members of the development team are still teaching and are drawing immediate data and feedback from theirs and their students' experiences with PebblePad. The University is committed to encouraging and supporting research around ePortfolio especially in respect of learning and teaching issues, student support and employability.

In June 2005, following a very successful eportfolio pilot, the University decided to extend use of PebblePad to every student and every member of staff.

June was an especially good month for us as 3 colleagues, all PebblePad users, were awarded National Teaching Fellowships. Julie Hughes, School of Education; Deirdre Burke; School of Health, Languages and Social Sciences and Alison Halstead, Dean of Learning and Teaching are all happy to share their eportfolio experiences.
