PebblePad is more than just a presentational ePortfolio system – it is designed to be a personal learning system that supports a wide range of contexts and situations. Fundamentally PebblePad provides a private space for individuals to plan, record and showcase their activities and experiences.

This can be via scaffolded wizards that support the recording process or via uploaded files. Every item created in PebblePad is initially private and under the control of the owner. They can choose to share items from their store with peers, mentors or tutors for feedback or collaboration. They can also submit items as part of an assessment process which allows the institution to access the work and control the assessment process by granting permission to appropriate tutors or even external examiners.

Organisations can design their own forms within PebblePad for users to record activities, and where appropriate develop frameworks for professional standards that users can add evidence against to demonstrate their professional capabilities. Importantly users can continue to use PebblePad after graduation via a free personal account to help them as they progress into their professional lives.
